Italy: 2.8% increase in wages
[ Italica ] - At the end of December 2009, the 89.7 per cent of work contracts was covered by collective agreements and wages marked a 2.8 per cent increase from December 2008 - Istat, Italy's National Institute of Statistics, reports today in a survey. In particular, the sectors where wages increased the most are water and waste-disposal services and foodstuffs and tobaccos sectors, where, from last year, the index rose respectively by 4.2 and 4 per cent. Low increases were recorded in transports and building sectors(+1.4 and 2%) and in agriculture (+1.6%). The coverage ratio is total in agriculture, while in industry and services sector is respectively 98 and 82.7 per cent. [February 2, 2010 – Italica news from Italy and San Marino]
