| Italy’s GDP down 0.2 % in Q4 of 2009 |

| [ Italica ] - Italy’s gross domestic product contracted 0.2 per cent and 2.8 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2009, compared respectively to the previous quarter and to the same quarter of 2008 - Istat, the official statistics institute, reports on Friday. Italy's National Institute of Statistics stresses that over the whole year 2009, the GDP is down 4.9 per cent. Besides, Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, reported that, in both the euro area and the EU27, the GDP is up 0.1 per cent in Q4 of 2009 compared to the previous quarter, but contracted 2.3 per cent from the year before.
