Italy’s mayoral elections show anti-establishment movement winning in Rome and Turin
[ Italica ] - Italian mayoral elections show Five Star's Virginia Raggi winning in Rome against Roberto Giachetti, candidate of the centre-left Democratic Party (67.15 % vs 32.85%). In Milan, centre-left’s Beppe Sala obtained the 51.70 % of votes, while centre-right’s candidate Stefano Parisi reached a 48.30%. Luigi de Magistris, incumbent mayor of Naples, has been elected with the 66.85% of votes against the centre-right’s candidate Gianni Lettieri, who obtained 33.15% of votes. In Turin, Five Star’s Chiara Appendino (54.56%) is the new mayor, while the incumbent mayor Piero Fassino of the Democratic Party obtained the 45.44% of votes. In Bologna, Democratic Party’s incument mayor Virginio Merola won against Lucia Borgonzoni, centre-right’s candidate (54.64% against 45.36%). Centre-right’s candidate Roberto Dipiazza is the new mayor of Trieste with the 52.63% of votes against the centre-left’s candidate Roberto Cosolini (47.37%).
